If you are placing international long distance calls to cellular telephones, there is often a different rate per minute that you'll be charged. All of the rates for calls made to cellular phones can be found within the "Long Distance Rates" section by looking-up the "country name" first, followed by the word "cellular" in the listing. Example: "India cellular"
Is this long distance service voice over the Internet?
No. Voice over IP (Internet Protocol) is a long way from being perfected. Our service is the same service as traditional long distance calling over regular long distance carriers. We are simply providing you with wholesale access to those carrier minutes and allowing you to dial using any phone, anytime, from anywhere in the United States and Canada to the rest of the world!
Your prices are the best I have seen, but what about the quality of service?
buytheminute.com
buys minutes from a number of first quality carriers including AT&T, Sprint, and Teleglobe. We test each carrier thoroughly to ensure they meet our rigorous standards before connecting them to our service.
I use one of the well-known long distance carriers now, and when I place calls to various international destinations around the world, my calls do not always connect properly. Will I have this problem with your service?
If any calling problems do occur, it is usually related to the fact that not every country has a reliable phone service like we have here in North America. Simply, hang up immediately and try your call again.
Is the 1-800 number to access your system always the same?
Yes. In fact, for added convenience, if you place most of your long distance calls from home, you could put the 1-800 system access number into the speed dial feature of your home phone (home phone must have this feature capability).
Can I keep the same PIN number that I have been given and simply recharge my account so that I don't have to get a new number?
No, not at this time. You will however, be able to recharge your account and use the same PIN number in the near future. If you have provided us with your e-mail address, you will be notified of all future updates and specials.
How do I know how much time I have left on my account?
Each time you place a long distance call through our system using your PIN Number, a voice prompt will notify you of both the dollars and minutes remaining on your account.
Why can't I use my free-mail (re-mail) address to purchase minutes from you on my credit card?
Most fraudulent credit card activity is done using free e-mail addresses. The third party credit card transaction company - InternetSecure Inc. - that we use, insists on real Internet e-mail addresses that have been provided to you from your ISP (Internet service provider) as part of their fraud detection service. Let's put it this way, if someone stole your credit card number and tried to buy something over the Internet, with a real e-mail address that is registered with an ISP, we could trace the criminal activity back to that person. Therefore, it is more for your security, than ours!
Do you have additional payment options other than credit cards?
Yes. You can e-mail us at support@buytheminute.com to set-up an account with your request for purchase and mail a check or money-order. Once the funds have been received, we will send you an e-mail with your PIN Number and dialing instructions.
Will my PIN Number ever expire?
Yes. Your PIN Number will expire 6 months from the time that you purchase the service. This is why we have provided our members with the option to purchase from $20.00 to $100.00 worth of service depending on your own personal volume of calling.
What if I travel a lot and need to take the service with me?
The e-mail that we send you within minutes of your approved purchase, includes the toll-free 1-800 access number, your PIN Number, and dialing instructions with a wallet-sized area that you could print out to carry with you, much like a calling card.
Can I make international long distance calls through your service from a payphone?
Yes. However, some long distance calls made through payphones may be subject to a surcharge. Why? The owners of those particular payphones will charge buytheminute.com the surcharge for that call, which we will then simply pass on to you through a deduction on your account.
Can I use buytheminute.com service while travelling outside of the continental United States or Canada to call back to North America or to call anywhere else in the world?
buytheminute.com
will provide you with two 1-800 toll-free network access
telephone numbers with your purchase. You can then use the service to call
anywhere in the world ONLY FROM the continental U.S. and Canada.
Can I buy service from you if I live outside the United States and Canada, but intend to use the service while travelling in North America to call back overseas?
Yes. You would simply have to decide in which currency (U.S. or Canadian dollars) that you would like to purchase the service. The credit card statement from your bank will then show the currency conversion from U.S. or Cdn. dollars (depending on original selection) to the currency of your country.
Can I buy service from you and give it to someone else to use?
Sure. You could simply forward the e-mail that we send you, which includes the 1-800 access number, your PIN Number and dialing instructions, to anyone that you would like to receive the service.
Could I become a distributor of buytheminute.com to resell your service?
No. If we did do this, we would not be able to provide you with these wholesale prices because our costs would increase. We would then become an e-retailer like everyone else, and the amount you save would be affected by having to offer retail pricing.
